The Castle Custom Cabinets Team
Lead Cabinet Maker - Joe Piehowski
Joe is originally from the Twin Cities and began working with wood in 1982 framing garages for Sussel Construction. After high school Joe attended Hennepin Technical College for 2 years and learned the art of custom cabinet making. Upon graduating Joe did his apprenticeship in Lake Forest, IL with Thomas Weiss Wood Working a custom cabinet shop. Through this opportunity Joe had the chance to work on many unique projects such as building all the interior millwork for a three story casino river boat.
After returning to the Twin Cities Joe worked for Pegg-Whitney Woodworking in NE Minneapolis primarily in the historic restoration field. The company specialized in building one of a kind doors, custom millwork, and cabinetry. Joe then moved with his family to Oregon where he worked for a custom cabinet shop for four years where he learned a different perspective and learned new cabinet making techniques and about alternative materials.
After returning again to the Twin Cities Joe had the opportunity to manage the countertop shop, for Guyer's Builders Express, where he oversaw the fabrication of a large Granite and solid surface division. Joe managed a group of 12 employees. After getting restless Joe decided to go it alone and start his own Custom Cabinet Shop, Cherry Hills Cabinetry. After six successful years Joe was looking to work less hours and to partner with an organization that could help take his company to the next level and late in 2008 merged his operation with Castle Building & Remodeling.
Cabinet Shop Production Coordinator - Adam Real-Banas
Adam is originally from rural Illinois. He graduated from Illinois State University with a BA in Philosophy. After college, he moved to Minnesota to join his sweetheart. He quickly found a job in carpentry and spent nearly two years framing new homes. Wanting to learn more about precision woodworking, he then moved into cabinet making. For six months, he worked in a custom cabinet shop under the direction of an expert cabinet maker. Following this, he joined the ranks of Castle Building & Remodeling in June 2007. Hired initially as a Carpenter's Apprentice, he has moved through the ranks to become a Project Manager and now to his current role of Cabinet Shop Production Coordinator.
