2015 Castle Educational Home Tour Participant
This mid-50’s suburban home, still had the original kitchen cabinets, countertops and appliances and it was very overdue for a remodel. The Homeowners however, wanted to do more than just update their kitchen. Between the kitchen and a large living room and dining room were the basement stairs. Fortunately, an earlier addition to the house included a second set of stairs to the basement, so this stairway was
expendable.
By eliminating the stairway, Castle was able to expand the kitchen and open it up to rest of the house. With sleek, contemporary walnut cabinetry, a built-in breakfast nook using walnut and hickory and unique
countertop and backsplash tile materials, this is truly a one-of-kind remodel.
