This kitchen remodel involved removing the built in buffet in the dining room, and the wall between the kitchen and dining room. The kitchen layout was modified, with the refrigerator, range, and sink all changing locations. An island and peninsula were incorporated. A pantry closet was constructed below the stairs. Hardwoods were refinished in adjacent rooms. The homeowners put a lot of sweat equity into the project. They completed the demolition (including removing a chimney), installed the tile backsplash and appliances, and painted inside the pantry. Hickory cabinetry, Hanstone countertops, and traditional Oak millwork and flooring both revive the space and blend well with adjacent rooms.
