Residential Remodeling Drafter

Experience:

  • Proficient in Chief Architect
  • Seeking candidate with minimum of 3 years’ experience.
  • Ideal if living in Minneapolis/St Paul, MN area as site measures may be required for some projects.
  • Familiarity working in homes built in 1900s-1980s.
  • General knowledge of residential home structure and mechanical systems.
  • Main point of contact will usually be with Designer/Salesperson. But drafter should have ability to incorporate structural engineer documents or land surveys from a 3rd party as well.
  • Willingness to draft plans with various design aesthetics- examples: traditional, transitional, and modern. A basic understanding of the processes of design, construction, and remodeling.
  • Detail oriented, efficient, flexible, strong communicator.
  • An ability to multitask and manage multiple projects at varying stages of design with Castle’s sales/ design team. Interiors- kitchens, baths, bars, basements, attics, misc. makeovers. Exteriors- decks, porches, additions, ADUs.
  • Note- candidate doesn’t need to necessarily be well versed in both interiors and exteriors. We are open to working with 2 different subcontractors that are specialized in specific areas if need be.

 

Role responsibilities minimally include:

  • Review potential projects with Castle team and submit rough cost/time bids per project.
  • Measure homes and document/photograph existing conditions if not already done so by Castle’s team.
  • Draft as-built plan and conceptual plans.
  • Concepts to be achieved through collaboration with the Design/Sales team or Design team may option to draw concepts themselves.
  • Issue plan revision sets for preliminary design/trade partner site visit walkthroughs, final design/permit plan.
  • These will include but may not be limited to electrical plans, cabinet, or structural details; sections, elevations, basic site plans, etc. based upon feedback/redlines provided by sales/design team.
  • Amount of drafting needed, will vary by project and designer/salesperson. Start by utilizing Castle’s chief architect plan and layout templates. Castle is however open to working with drafter to modify those to continuously improve and encourages development of detail libraries, etc.

Maintenance Tech

This full-time position is responsible for repairs and general maintenance at three commercial properties in St. Louis Park and Minneapolis. As a Maintenance Technician for Castle Building & Remodeling your will be tasked with maintaining the buildings and related equipment, to provide a safe, comfortable, clean and efficient environment for staff, clients and tenants. Tasks include light electrical, plumbing, carpentry, doors, flooring, paint, drywall, ceilings, general repairs, moving furniture and equipment and overseeing other outside contractors.

Key Functions:

· Respond to work requests, track progress, and communicate status.
· Update SharePoint site to track work requests and communicate status    to interested parties.
· Implement a preventive maintenance schedule.
· Monitor and maintain systems: heating/cooling, plumbing, electrical, lighting, and some commercial kitchens.
· Provide day to day handyperson tasks such as moving furniture, assembling furniture, change light bulbs, unclog drains, replace light fixtures, painting, minor equipment repair, and other such tasks.
· Perform repairs as needed, including plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.
· Oversee work done by outside 3rd party contractors and inspectors.
· Advise management about preventative maintenance, repair schedules, needed repairs, and safety and compliance issues. Prepare for annual inspections from licensing agencies.
· Keep utility, electric and dumpster areas clean and orderly.
· Monitor company vehicles’ service and repair, including driving vehicles to service locations.
· Willing to serve on-call for infrequent emergency repairs.

Functions do NOT include landscaping, lawn, snow removal, elevator or janitorial.

Other:

· Castle Building & Remodeling to provide tools.
· Employee to maintain confidentiality for all pertinent client information.
· Castle employees and subcontractors to conduct themselves using role model behavior which is consistent with and supportive to women in recovery from substance use disorder. Such behavior will include upholding ethical standards of the program.
· Available M-F 7:30 am – 4pm.
· Emergency and after hours response required and compensated at time and a half.

Warehouse Assistant

• Warehouse help, deliveries, light demo

Requirements:

• 2+ years’ work experience preferred.
• Fast learner and ability to take direction.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds, physically fit to carry items up and down stairs.
• Communication and customer service skills are integral to long term success.
• Reliable transportation is required for employment.
• Clean driving record.
• Use of a smart phone is required.
• Interest in advancing in a remodeling career.

$18 + an hour plus benefits

Apprentice Carpenter

Position Responsibilities Include:
• Light demo, framing, use of power tools.

Requirements:
• 2+ years field experience preferred.

• Communication and customer service skills are integral to long term success.
• Reliable transportation is required for employment.
• An understanding of building & remodeling techniques, fast learner, and an appreciation for older homes.
• Relevant experience in remodeling older homes is a plus but not required.
• Use of a smart phone is required.

Lead Carpenter

Position Responsibilities Include:
• Leading a team of carpenters, framing, trim carpentry, cabinet install, tile, etc.

Requirements:
• Experience leading a residential remodeling team.
• The ability to lead and manage a crew of 2 or more is key to this position.
• Lead Carpenters must be organized and good at planning ahead.
• 10+ years field experience preferred.

• Reliable transportation is required for employment.
• An understanding of building & remodeling techniques and an appreciation for older homes.
• Relevant experience in remodeling older homes is required.

Drywaller / Painter

Position Responsibilities Include:
• Drywall: Light demo, plaster patching, scraping and skim coating, texture patching and matching, and drywall finishing. Small job (less than 15 – 4X8 sheets) drywall hanging and install efficiencies required.
• Painting: Wall, ceiling and trim painting, staining, spraying of millwork and cabinets.

Requirements:
• 3+ years field experience preferred.
Must be comfortable with both trades and all skill sets listed above.
