While the existing deck of this rambler / ranch in Northeast Minneapolis certainly provided a place to relax during the sweet Minnesota summer evenings, the homeowners were ready to update and add an additional patio space. The open deck was replaced with treated cedar decking in a warm cherry tone. A stone path takes visitors from the deck stairs to a designated area, complete with chairs, private screen and a fire pit. Additional shade was created with a fabric pergola in a fun blue shade that carries the mid-century modern aesthetic throughout the interior of the home to the exterior space.
