The investors who purchased this foreclosed 1946 rambler in Robbinsdale knew the whole house needed to be updated after the previous owners smoked in the home for many many years. The whole home needed updating, however the owners did not want to lose the Mid-century period feel of their home.

Castle converted a toilet and shower stall in the basement to a 1/2 bath. In the kitchen, modern cabinetry by Crystal Cabinet Works was installed and black granite countertops were added. The countertops compliment the 4×4 blue tile and retro style vinyl floor. The home also boasts a large living room with a wood burning fireplace and lots of natural light.

Drain tile was installed in the basement to help correct a water intrusion issue. Energy-efficient upgrades were also made including a new windows, energy star appliances, and a new furnace.

To help preserve the original feel of the home the exterior siding was painted a retro color, shakes were added over the front door, new shutters and a star burst were added. Other exterior improvements include new gutters, soffit and fascia, storm doors, and a new garage door. At the end of remodel, the investors had an updated home without sacrificing the period feel.
